-- Doc1, "Purpose of UKCERT"

The purpose of UKCERT™ is to provide concise practical information that will be of use to anyone who has a responsibility or interest in Information Security. UKCERTs™ mandate covers business, academic and government areas of practice with a focus on the geographic area of the United Kingdom. Visitors can expect to receive, free of charge, timely advice on current technical IT Security issues which takes into account local needs. This advice takes the form of website content, access to the UKCERT™ Repository and UKCERT Forum. In this respect UKCERT™ will be complimentary to services provided for US (Cert.org and http://www.us-cert.gov/), Australia (AusCERT.org.au), Canada (cancert.ca) and Poland (cert.pl) not withstanding the many other countries and organisations that have been listed on the front page. (Please inform the site administrator at the email below of any ommissions). Together the Global Community effort can make our IT systems and the communal Internet secure and functional.

There is and never will be a charge for the materials on this site as the site is published under the GNU Free Documentation License (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html) and always will be.

In order to keep a vendor neutral unbiased position no commercial activity of any kind can take place through UKCERT.
UKCERT is able to speak about issues in an unhampered manner. We hope you find this service useful and feel free to give feedback for improvement to "manager @ ukcert.org.uk".
